Enjoy an relaxing session of Vinyasa Yoga, restoring calm and clarity to the mind in a soothing, inflatable, cocoon-like pod, heated to 37c. Enter a deep state of relaxation with breath work, gentle & nourishing yoga and meditation. The heat warms the muscles and aids flexibility as well as making the heart work harder.  A waiver form must be completed to participate.  

 Attendees must bring; a yoga mat or a large towel to fully cover the mats provided, water, workout clothes you can sweat in and a smaller towel to wipe down during the class.

The workshop will start with a brief introduction to colour theory, where you will use jesmonite pigment to mix up 2 colours of your choice. You will then learn 2 different jesmonite techniques; marbling and terrazo. Practising each technique on 2 small items of your choice (photo holders, incense holders or a ring holder) before choosing your favourite technique to create your final drinks coaster.

We know how popular pottery painting is, so why not try getting behind the potter's wheel?  After all, there are few experiences as tactile and therapeutic as making your own masterpiece with clay. Using your hands to transform a ball of clay into something functional or decorative is a truly unique and enchanting experience, one that will leave you wanting more! Perfect for complete beginners, or those with a little experience.  

This experience includes a 2-hour session to return and paint your pottery on Saturday 7th March at 09:30 meeting outside the student union. Please only book this activity if you can attend both parts of the event.

The pasta maestros will show you the ropes and teach you how to make dough from scratch, as well as how to form your favourite pasta shapes! With fresh pasta crisps on arrival to tickle your taste buds we will grab our aprons and learn the tricks. Once all five pastas have been made, they are sent off to the kitchen to be cooked up by the Chef, in different sauces, for you to enjoy for your dinner.

Experience life in a Victorian waggonway, you will learn how it was constructed and listen out for the wagons full of coal heading for the Tyne. Learn how tough life was during World War Two; listen for the air-raid warning, the sound of planes passing overhead dropping their bombs, and hear the memories of people who lived through this dreadful period in Newcastle's history. During your tour, you’ll also find out which Newcastle landmarks you are walking beneath, including the unique chance to walk underneath Hadrian's Roman Wall.

Beamish is a world-famous open-air museum, telling the story of life in North East England during the 1820s, 1900s, 1940s and 1950s.  

Explore the 1900s Town and see how families lived and worked in the years leading up to the First World War. See what’s cooking in the pit cottages, practise your handwriting in the school and visit the chapel. Don’t forget to say hello to the pit ponies in their stables! Be sure to jump on Beamish Tramway and head back to the 1900s Pit Village for fish & chips!  There’s just so much to see and do at Beamish Museum.

Go Ape Treetop Adventure 

Saturday 21st February

Join us as we take on the treetop challenge at Go Ape Maften. Although this course is set amongst the stunning Northumerland scenery it’s sure to test your nerve! Enjoy up to 3 hours on the high ropes course where you’ll discover a replica of the Tyne Bridge and other local ladmarks in the trees. There’s the half trapeze and free-falling Tarzan swings to brave before the ultimate challenge of the skateboard zipline. You must bring a pair of gloves to wear on the course for your own comfort while taking part. You must also bring a change of clothes as you will get dirty. A waiver form must be completed to participate.
